Million people still rely on unsafe water sources
Million people still rely on basic or unsafe water sources such as unprotected wells and springs
Children under the age of five die every year from illnesses linked to unsafe drinking water
The World Bank has stated that poor water and sanitation cost some countries up to four percent of their annual GDP. A community water service, or CWS, provides water to the same population throughout the year, offering a consistent and reliable source of clean water.
These shallow water systems are vital in regions where access to deep wells or centralized infrastructure is not feasible. Every day, more than a hundred individuals benefit from a single CWS point, whether for drinking, cooking, washing, or irrigation.
BGR’s Community Water Services (Shallow) program provides an efficient and scalable solution to this crisis. These systems are built close to where people live, allowing them to reduce the time and physical strain of fetching water, while also minimizing the health risks associated with stagnant or contaminated sources.
