Million people faced hunger in 2023
Million children under the age of five suffer from wasting, a condition caused by severe malnutrition
Rural households are facing food insecure in low-income countries
The rising cost of groceries, lack of access to fresh produce, and increasing food insecurity have pushed millions into a cycle of hunger and malnutrition. For those living in poverty, even a single nutritious meal a day can be a luxury.
In many poor communities, people are entirely dependent on food aid or irregular daily wages to afford basic meals. When food prices rise, these families are the first to be affected. They are forced to skip meals, rely on cheap processed food, or go hungry for days.
Through the Kitchen Gardening initiative, BGR provides training, seeds, tools, and ongoing support to help these families succeed. These families can reduce their dependency on external sources, lower their food expenses, and gain a sense of purpose and pride in providing for themselves.
